Ellen last saw Ari Cohen in Guatemala, when he left her arms to fly back to Israel and medical school. She believes she’s rebuilt her life in the months since that difficult parting, doing meaningful work with the homeless, reconnecting with old friends and reconciling with her family. Then her mother dies and Ari turns up in Toronto, reigniting the fire in her heart and leading her into a life that will be far from conventional.
